The BT-640 FAU Campus Student Housing Project is a transformative residential development at Florida Atlantic University, designed to shift the campus experience from commuter-centric to pedestrian-first, connected, and community-focused. Located at the heart of FAU’s Boca Raton campus, the project will provide housing for at least 670 students and create a vibrant, walkable residential neighborhood that supports academic success, student well-being, and sustainability.
WGI served as a key landscape architecture partner, designing the surrounding landscape, hardscape, and ambiance lighting to enhance connectivity, safety, and social engagement. By integrating pathways, green spaces, and native plantings, WGI helped establish a cohesive, accessible environment that links the new BT-640 residence hall with existing campus destinations, including Parliament Hall, the lakefront, and Parking Garage 2.
A signature aspect of the project involved the permanent closure of part of St. Lucie Avenue South, eliminating a vehicular barrier and enabling a continuous green space that encourages student interaction and supports a more walkable campus. Outdoor furnishings, lighting, and programming were thoughtfully curated to accommodate both casual gatherings and larger campus events, reflecting FAU’s vision for a livable, sustainable campus.
