WGI provided the structural engineering services and construction phase services for the Chihuly sculpture support structure. In addition, a removable hurricane enclosure was designed to protect the sculpture from hurricane force winds and missile impact.
The removable shelter was designed to be assembled using hand labor without the use of large cranes and other equipment. The removable shelter was designed utilizing aluminum products and hurricane / impact resistant wall panels and roof plates.
