The Commodore Perry Parking Garage was built in the early to mid 1970’s. The parking structure is bordered on the north by Huron Street and on the west by Monroe Street.
The parking structure is a two-bay double helix facility providing one-way traffic flow with angled parking. The two bays are ramped, providing vertical vehicle circulation throughout the facility. The structural system consists of precast prestressed concrete double tees spanning approximately 58 feet to precast concrete ledger beams, which in turn, frame into precast columns. The precast double tees are topped with a bonded 3 inch thick cast-in-place concrete topping, reinforced with welded wire mesh fabric.
WGI performed a condition appraisal of the parking garage to review the condition of the garage, make recommendations for the repair and maintenance. Our review focused on identifying deterioration and damage to the concrete structure and waterproofing systems. We produced a report complete with findings, conclusions, and restoration recommendations. Following our evaluation, WGI was retained to perform design, bidding, and construction administration services to repair the cast-in-place beams.
