Indiantown Road/Jupiter interchange is located along Florida’s Turnpike Mainline (Mainline) and is part of the Central Ticket System in Palm Beach County, located at approximately milepost 116. The Florida Turnpike Enterprise’s tolled interchange provides access to Indiantown Road (SR 706) in addition to serving as a crossover point for I-95 due to its close proximity to the Mainline. As part of the 2008 Mainline Widening from north of Lake Worth Road to north of Indiantown Road/Jupiter PD&E Study, intersection improvements were recommended for the Indiantown Road interchange. As a result, the recommended improvements were funded for construction in Fiscal Year 2013.
This project involved improvements to two specific areas at the “trumpet” style Mainline/Indiantown Road interchange. The deceleration lane and the initial curve of the northbound exit ramp were improved to accommodate a 50 mph design speed. Also, the intersection of the toll plaza roadway and Indiantown Road was improved by modifying the lane assignments for the north approach to accommodate a triple left. The creation of a triple left required pavement widening on the east approach, signing and pavement marking improvements, and milling and resurfacing on eastbound Indiantown Road east of the intersection. Other items associated with these two improvements include ITS facility relocations and modifications to the existing signage, drainage, signalization, and lighting.
