WGI provided site observations and structural assessments at the following facilities for Palm Beach County Water Utilities: Southern Region Water Reclamation Facility, Water Treatment Plants #2, #3 & SROC, 8 and 9, Regional Pump Stations 9N, 5236, 5229, 5241, Mecca, NROC, Century Village and Morikami, Customer Service, Pump Station 5N, and Administration and Central Region Operations Center.
The hurricane hardening assessment reports were developed to identify deficiencies and provide hurricane hardening recommendations for buildings, tanks, or other miscellaneous structures on each site. The assessment compared the existing facilities with compliance with the Florida Building Code (2010) wind load criteria, based on the available plans, shop drawings, and site observations. In addition, WGI assessed other structures such as silos, tanks, canopies, and miscellaneous small buildings on the site for hurricane vulnerability.
As part of the assessment, WGI recommended remedial repairs at each site, including replacement of damaged or non-compliant hurricane protection, and identified potential hazards or recommended new hardening. The Water Utilities Department used the assessment reports to program future upgrades and/or replacements to its WTP/WWTP facilities.
