The Port of Tampa Bay parking garages are located along Channelside Drive, opposite to Cruise Terminals 2 and 3. The Garages consists of two separate and unique parking structures that were built during different time periods and are now connected to each other.
WGI was tasked with completing a vertical expansion feasibility study. The objective of the feasibility study was to determine if the parking garages could be expanded vertically and to ascertain the issues involved in this undertaking.
• One of the garages was not originally designed for expansion
• A variety of engineering retrofit technologies were explored during the feasibility study such as column strengthening, foundation underpinning, and seismic later bracing
