(Tallahassee, FL – July 24, 2026) Stephen Clancy, PSM, VP, Geospatial Division Leader, proudly announces that Nick Campanile, PSM, has joined WGI as Strategic Growth Leader within the Geospatial Division. Nick will be based in WGI’s Tallahassee, Florida office, supporting the firm’s continued growth and technical excellence across the region.
Nick strengthens WGI’s already formidable position as a leader in geospatial services and land surveying. He brings more than 40 years of experience spanning private-sector surveying and senior leadership roles within Florida state government, including nearly a decade with the Florida Department of Transportation and more than two decades with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of State Lands. His background includes land acquisition surveying, public land and geodetic surveying, cadastral and title research, right-of-way mapping, and expert witness testimony in litigation involving sovereignty submerged lands and land boundary disputes.
Throughout his career, Nick has led large survey and mapping programs at the state level, including his most recent role as Bureau Chief of the Bureau of Survey & Mapping within FDEP’s Division of State Lands and, prior to that, as District Surveyor & Mapper for FDOT District Five. He has managed teams of more than 30 professional staff, developed FDOT’s PSM Trainee Program, and supported initiatives such as the Moving Florida Forward Governor’s Initiative. Nick also served two terms on the Florida Board of Professional Surveyors and Mappers, including two years as Board Chair, and spent more than a decade as an adjunct instructor teaching route surveying and legal principles of land surveying at two Florida community colleges.
Clancy expressed his enthusiasm regarding Nick’s addition to the firm:
“I’ve had the privilege of knowing Nick personally and professionally for more than 25 years, and I can say without hesitation that he is one of the finest surveyors, mentors, and people I’ve had the opportunity to work alongside. His technical expertise, integrity, and genuine commitment to developing others have earned him tremendous respect throughout our profession. We’re incredibly fortunate to welcome Nick to WGI, and I know he’ll have an immediate and lasting impact on our clients, our team, and the future of our Geospatial Division.”
Nick earned his Bachelor of Land Surveying degree from the University of Florida. He is a licensed Professional Surveyor and Mapper in the State of Florida and a graduate of the FDOT Leadership Academy. He is an Emeritus Regulatory Board member of the Florida Board of Professional Surveyors and Mappers and a current member of the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society.
Nick spoke of his enthusiasm regarding his new role and arrival at WGI, stating:
“Having been involved in the public agency transportation sector for years, I have found WGI to be a technologically advanced engineering and geospatial presence in Florida and which has more recently grown nationally. Key to my decision to join WGI are the commitments to growing and testing technology, striving for superior safety standards, and dedicating to develop and strengthen employee capabilities.”
As Strategic Growth Leader, Nick will focus on expanding WGI’s geospatial and surveying practice throughout Florida and the southeast, strengthening relationships with public agency clients, and advancing the firm’s capabilities in land surveying, mapping, and geospatial services. Furthermore, he will be instrumental in continuing to develop our internal and external mentorship and training programs to support the recruitment, growth, and advancement of surveying and mapping professionals.
