Each year the Austin Business Journal recognizes the projects and people that exemplify best practices in building and development, as well as those that have the biggest impact on the Austin community. This year, two WGI projects came out on top.
Retail Development Winner: Music Lane
Music Lane is a unique cultural destination that consists of nearly 300,000 sf of office, retail, restaurant, and outdoor amenity space in the heart of the eclectic SoCo district.
This vibrant stretch of South Congress provides an elevated shopping experience, as well as a mix of casual and fine dining, which attracts visitors and locals alike. Music Lane isn’t just a destination, it’s a lifestyle.
WGI provided civil engineering, traffic engineering, site development permitting, and construction phase services for the Music Lane project.

Multifamily Development Winner: The Weaver Residences at The Hatchery
Situated on the shores of Lady Bird Lake, The Weaver Residences at The Hatchery is a 250-unit, market-rate multifamily community built on a former federally-operated fish hatchery.
The residences are located within The Hatchery, Austin Geriatric Center’s multi-phase redevelopment plan for the site surrounding the Rebekah Baines Johnson (RBJ) Center — an independent living center for seniors and people with disabilities.
WGI provided civil engineering, site development permitting, and construction phase services for The Weaver and the overall RBJ Center redevelopment project.
