Event Recap: 2022 ACEC-FL Engineering Excellence Awards Banquet

WGI was honored to be the only firm to receive two Engineering Excellence Awards at this year’s EEA banquet.
ACEC-FL Engineering Excellence Awards

The Engineering Excellence Awards is an annual event hosted by The American Council of Engineering Companies of Florida (ACEC-FL), that recognizes the outstanding contributions of Florida engineering firms for their innovative and elaborate projects.

Projects are reviewed by an illustrious board of judges representing several different sectors and are rated on a variety of factors including uniqueness, innovated applications, future value to the engineering profession, complexity, and several other criteria.

“I’m extremely proud to receive this recognition from FDOT and my peers, for a project that I literally started working on my second day after joining WGI. It was extremely gratifying to get up on that stage and accept this award with the exact same team I began the project with over ten years ago. It’s a happiness that I just can’t put into words.” – David Gerber, Project Engineer

During the banquet, attendees had the pleasure of viewing a spotlight video for each of the winning projects, prior to the award presentations and acceptance speeches.

In addition to being one of eight Grand Award winners, WGI’s MEP Engineering team also snagged an Honor Award for their Ike Smart City Digital Kiosks in the Building/Technology Systems – Computer Technology category.
