Florida’s Outdoor Advertising Program helps maintain safe, organized, and visually appealing transportation corridors by regulating billboard placement, size, spacing, and lighting throughout the state. Through a five-year partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), WGI provides statewide outdoor advertising inventory management, permitting support, compliance reviews, and field inspections, helping modernize the program through innovative geospatial technologies.
Since the start of the contract, more than 60 WGI associates have contributed to documenting over 9,500 billboard structures statewide. By leveraging mobile lidar, high-resolution imagery, GIS, and advanced data processing, WGI has collected more than 13,000 miles of roadway data and processed over 100 terabytes of geospatial information, improving the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of billboard inventory and compliance management.
WGI’s technology-driven approach minimizes field exposure along active roadways while creating highly accurate digital models that support virtual inspections, permitting, corridor analysis, and long-term transportation planning.
