WGI addressed safety improvements by reconfiguring the existing roundabout at the intersection of Jacaranda Boulevard and Venice Avenue in Sarasota County, Florida. Components of development for this project involved modifying the westbound entry lane and associated signing and marking to make the external circulatory lane right turn only, and modification of the westbound exit lanes to reduce them to one lane only.
In addition, the eastbound exit was increased to two lanes to accommodate higher traffic volumes, along with the installation of upgraded signing and marking. The upgraded signing and marking included enlarged Yield signs; installation of 16 new RRFB assemblies; addition of YIELD pavement markings on each entrance leg; addition of gore striping between each entry lane; as well as I-75 route pavement markings at the eastbound and westbound approaches. Additionally, all pavement was milled and resurfaced within the pavement marking modification limits.
