WGI was responsible for preparing roadway and signing and pavement marking plans required for a 1.1-mile extension of Jog Road from Hood Road to Donald Ross Road and 0.6 miles of widening improvements on Donald Ross Road from the Jog Road extension to 64th Drive North. Donald Ross Road, currently a 2-lane rural section, was widened to a 4-lane divided rural section.
Specific improvements associated with this project included three roundabouts at the intersections of Jog Road/Hood Road, Jog Road/Donald Ross Road, and 69th Drive/Donald Ross Road to improve traffic flows and turning movements at these high-volume locations. In addition, stormwater management facilities were improved, a box culvert crossing was installed over the Eastpointe Canal, and modifications were made to an existing pump station.
The Jog Road extension developed by WGI made accommodations for wildlife protection while utilizing avoidance and minimization of wetland impacts whenever possible. Our approach severely restricted the potential for allowing pollutants to enter the Loxahatchee Slough; the C-14 Canal’s eventual outfall.
Other services included environmental permitting, public involvement coordination, title/ownership research, topographical surveys, geotechnical investigations, utility coordination, and surveying.
