The Juno Beach Pier, managed by Loggerhead Marine life Center, is a 1,000-foot long ocean fishing pier with a “break-away” superstructure. The pier sits atop 120 pilings and has a 72-foot long T-end. The deck is made of pop-out wood planking, so storm surges will carry only those segments away and not the underlying structure. The deck is perched 18 feet above mean high water for added protection, which is five feet higher than other piers.
Post-Hurricane Irma in 2017, WGI provided structural designs for concrete restoration on the end beams and select intermediate beams. The plans included removing and replacing all wood railing at the T head and isolated areas with wood rot at water hose locations, including replacement of expansion joints.
