WGI was responsible for the design of improvements, which include resurfacing, restoration, and rehabilitation (RRR) of the roadway and operational improvements at the intersections, to accommodate future Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) expansion, bus routes, and freight delivery. The rail crossing at Columbia Street was improved to facilitate people’s safe movement, vehicles, and trains within the corridor with a four-quadrant gate system. Sligh Boulevard was also reconfigured to improve and accommodate the turning movements of BRT, bus, and freight vehicles. Other designs include a raised crosswalk/intersection table at Sligh Boulevard and Copeland Street, which provided a continuous pedestrian connection improving ADA accessibility to the Orlando Amtrak station. Watermain and sanitary sewer relocation design, streetscape and landscape design permitting, project design, and coordination with the FDOT were also included in WGI’s services.
