As part of the Design-Build Pushbutton contract, this task work order improved safety by modifying the existing interstate ramp access at SR 93 (I-75) and Colonial Boulevard. Particularly, the westbound to the southbound left-turning movement was shifted east, and the corresponding mast arm was shifted accordingly. Prior to the construction of this project, the existing position of the signal structures confused motorists since they could be perceived as the appropriate signal for two different and conflicting turn movements. Motorists on the exit ramp had near-sight and far-sight signal heads governing their movement. This redundancy provided clarity for the southbound to eastbound movement. However, such was not the case for the westbound to southbound movement. WGI moved the stop bar to the east, realigned the ramp entrance, and repositioned the new mast arm assembly and signal heads accordingly to eliminate any confusion, hence improving safety.
