The Temenos project is a 95-unit, 6-story, Permanent Supportive Housing development. The building’s single occupancy efficiency units are coupled with common shared spaces, offices, and a surface parking area. WGI worked closely with the non-profit operating the facility to ensure the unique housing elements fall in line with he Temenos CDC’s mission to help alleviate the challenges of homelessness in Houston.
WGI’s civil engineering efforts consisted of demolition of the existing buildings and the design of new on-site utilities, site paving, grading and drainage, underground detention, and public utility extensions. This project also required design modification to the City of Houston’s existing public waterline, storm, and sanitary sewer system. The team’s dry utility services include coordination with CenterPoint to reroute an existing overhead main line located on the site, which crosses over Interstate 45.
The Temenos project is scheduled for completion in 2023 with an estimated total cost of $34 million. Development funding is awarded through the City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department (HCD), Harris County, and federal, disaster recovery, and local housing bond funding.
