Project Description

WGI is providing engineering services for the ambitious Waterloo Greenway project which will transform a dilapidated and lifeless creek into a vibrant urban waterway complemented by dynamic parks, bridges, and open and interactive spaces that engage the public. Once completed, it will be a world-class destination that includes 35 acres of green space connected along 1.5 miles of parks.

A significant public-private partnership between the City of Austin and the Waterloo Greenway Conservancy, the project is divided into multiple phases with the goal of completion by 2026.

Phase 1 
Waterloo Park
12th St. to 15th St. along Red River St.
Size: 11 acres
Progress: Completed

Phase 2 
The Confluence (Creek Delta)
Lady Bird Lake to Cesar Chavez St.
Size: 9 acres
Progress: Construction begins fall 2022
Target Completion Date: 2025

Phase 3
Palm Park, Pontoon Bridge
4th St. to 11th St., and The Refuge
Size: 15 acres
Progress: Predesign planning
Target Completion Date: 2023 – 2026
