The Western Kentucky University Parking Structure #1 was constructed in the late 1960s and provided parking for approximately 1,000 cars. The seven-level structure was built over the top of existing low-rise buildings, and the remaining grade-level area provides vehicle maintenance parking.
WGI completed a condition appraisal and helped implement the first phase of a major repair program in the garage. Restoration included concrete slab and posttensioning repair as well as joint sealant replacement and application of surface sealer. In 2007, WGI updated the condition assessment to provide a five-year repair strategy. Additionally, WGI provided maintenance manuals for Parking Structure #1 and Parking Structure #2 (circa 2005) that included preventative maintenance programs tailored to each structure.
