WGI had the incredible opportunity of attending the Silvio Palms neighborhood dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, February 16th, 2023!
The inspiring event was held to celebrate the completion of a new 12-home Habitat for Humanity community, the dedication of eight homes to families in need, and the Grand Opening of the Silvio Palms Palms Park.
This extraordinary occasion demonstrated another example of how a community can come together to make amazing things happen – congratulations on creating something truly inspiring!
Located in Temple Terrace, a suburb of Tampa, FL, work began on the 12-single-family home community in the spring of 2022, which was made available exclusively to residents making under 80 percent of the area’s median income.
WGI was thrilled to break ground on the project as they provided Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, and Landscape Architecture services for the new park.
The park now sits at the center of this new affordable housing community. Members of our team involved in the project were honored to be a part of such a positive initiative to help make a lasting impact on families in need.
The event featured a message from the community’s proud new homeowners and remarks from special guest speakers Damon Moorer, president/CEO of TCM Bank and board chair of Habitat Hillsborough, and County Commissioner Gwen Myers.
After hearing from several speakers at the event, those in attendance were given the opportunity to engage with the community’s eight new families, as they were taken on guided tours through each home in addition to the Silvio Palms Park – a scenic way for everyone to experience the beauty that these families can now call home.
WGI would like to personally thank Habitat for Humanity’s Richard Rodgers, CFRE, Chief Development Officer, for providing WGI the opportunity to help with the Silvio Palms Park initiative.
The new homeowners have already gotten together and recently hosted an incredible Valentine’s day dance party in the park. The gathering was also accompanied by some delicious homemade cupcakes to share with other community members.
It’s clear that WGI and everyone involved in this inspiring project made a positive impact on the lives of these new community members and now, new homeowners! What an inspiring way to foster neighborhood strength and bring people together!
