We are pleased to announce that Tom Bernard, PE has joined our MEP Engineering team as the Market Leader based in our Tampa, FL office. Tampa is one of our most significant locations and a pivot point for both Florida and WGI’s national presence.
Tom brings over two decades of experience as a mechanical engineer with broad expertise in mechanical and plumbing system design – in the Tampa region, Florida, nationally, and overseas. Additionally, he augments our MEP department with specialty expertise in heat exchange and fluid science for new construction expansion, and renovation – including cryogenic systems, liquified gasses, and other extreme cold applications.
With a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration-Executive Management, Tom’s experience will provide our clients in Tampa, and the broader Florida market, a consultant with superior quality consulting and project delivery skills. Tom’s focus will be on bringing quality of service in MEP to Tampa, particularly in the municipal, multifamily, commercial, and education markets.
Shad Shafie, PE, vice president of the Buildings Division, says,
“We are extremely excited about our growth in Florida and we are thrilled to have Tom join our MEP team. Tom’s expertise and leadership out of the Tampa office will add tremendous value to our partners, both locally and nationally.”
Tom is ready to hit the ground running. He says,
“I’m looking forward to my role – bringing the best team with the right expertise to often-complex MEP projects and creating success for WGI’s clients. This is the start of another level of involvement with people I greatly respect.”
Tom is a chapter member of the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Florida West Coast (ASHRAE-FWC), acting as a Board Officer from 2018-2019; the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME); American Society of Plumbing Engineers; Association of Commercial Real Estate; and the Cryogenic Society of America (CSA).
