WTS Central Florida honored WGI with its Employer of the Year award during its Scholarship and Awards Banquet on September 30th.
Each year, the chapter recognizes a firm that supports the mission of WTS and demonstrates support of the advancement of women and minorities in the transportation field.
Well Represented
Women are well represented at WGI with 32% of the total company being female. Our corporate executive team is 27% female and includes the Vice President of Human Resources, Vice President of Administration, and Director of Operations.
Twenty percent of Division executives are women, which includes the Senior Vice President of Transportation, Nancy Clements, PE, the leader of our largest division corporate-wide. Over 23% of our practice area leaders are women. Some examples are the Vice President of Business Planning, Vice President of New Mobility & Connected Communities, Director of Public Infrastructure – Water, Director of Urban & Community Planning, Florida Structural Market Leader, and the Texas Regional Manager of Survey.
Career Advancement & Professional Development
WGI offers a multitude of programs in place to empower women and help them to advance in their careers. These programs include career development planning, the Emerging Leaders Program, mentor/protégé program, the Women of WGI (WOW) group, and more.
In addition, WGI supports the continuing professional development of its associates by providing in-house training, continuing education assistance, and support for membership in professional organizations.
The Next Generation
WGI has a year-round internship program that provides a well-rounded learning environment that enhances the student’s classroom education with hands-on experience. WGI offers intern opportunities in engineering (civil, transportation, structural, mechanical, electrical), land design services (planning, landscape architecture, urban design), geospatial (surveying & mapping, geomatics, GIS) and business administration (marketing, IT, and HR). Over the years, 28.5% of our interns have been women.
