With a lack of a formal zoning ordinance within the City of Houston, one of the largest City of Houston requirements to impact a development is Off-Street Parking. If a development is located within the Full-Purpose Jurisdiction of the City of Houston, then the amount of on-site parking required to serve the development is dependent on the end-use as shown in Section 42-492 of the City of Houston Code of Ordinances.
There are provisions in place where shared parking and reduced parking may be allowed (especially in dense urban areas) but these need to be investigated on a case-by-case basis.
Feel free to contact WGI’s Houston Office should you need any help in determining the off-street parking requirements associated with your projects.
