FDOT Recognizes WGI With Perfect Environmental Contract Scores

Behind every great score is a great team. WGI is proud to celebrate perfect FDOT performance evaluations for the FDOT District 6 Districtwide Permits contract

WGI’s Environmental Services team has earned another exceptional recognition from the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), receiving perfect 5.0 scores across the board on its latest consultant performance evaluation for the FDOT District 6 Districtwide Permits contract.

FDOT evaluates every professional services contract on a 1–5 scale across quality, schedule, and management criteria. A 3 is satisfactory; the baseline expectation. A 4 means the consultant handled minor issues efficiently and delivered above expectations. A 5 means outstanding: the team was proactive, resolved problems before they escalated, and required minimal Department involvement. Scores above 4.5 put a consultant firmly in that top tier.

The latest results mark WGI’s fourth consecutive evaluation with perfect scores, continuing an impressive record of performance on a contract the team has supported for nearly a decade.

Nearly a Decade of Environmental Support

WGI first secured the Districtwide Permits contract in 2017, beginning with a five-year, $1.5 million contract. The firm was selected again in 2022 for another five-year term with the same budget.

Across the two contracts, WGI has completed more than 45 Task Work Orders and approximately $1.5 million in services, providing environmental permitting and regulatory support for transportation projects throughout FDOT District 6.

A core team of WGI environmental professionals supports the contract at all times, and strong evaluations reflect its ability to manage complex assignments, coordinate with regulatory agencies, and consistently deliver high-quality work for FDOT.

Supporting One of FDOT’s Largest Projects

Among the contract’s most significant assignments is environmental permitting for the Golden Glades Interchange Reconstruction, a $633 million reconstruction project and the largest design-build project in FDOT history.

WGI developed a comprehensive permitting strategy for seven interconnected segments of the project, coordinating approvals with agencies including the Miami-Dade County Department of Environmental Resources Management, South Florida Water Management District, Florida Department of Environmental Protection, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The scale of the project required careful coordination across multiple jurisdictions and permitting requirements while keeping one of South Florida’s most significant transportation improvements moving forward.

Protecting Resources Along Biscayne Bay

WGI has also supported the SR 934/NE 79th Street Bridge Replacement projects, completing wetland delineations, benthic resource surveys, and state and federal regulatory permitting.

The work included securing proprietary approvals associated with a Sovereign Submerged Lands Easement for the replacement of two bridges spanning the environmentally sensitive waters of Biscayne Bay.

These assignments highlight the specialized environmental expertise behind the Districtwide Permits contract and the level of coordination required to advance major infrastructure projects while addressing sensitive natural resources and regulatory requirements.

Four Straight Perfect Evaluations

Receiving a perfect consultant evaluation is a significant accomplishment. Achieving that standard four evaluations in a row reflects the consistency, technical expertise, and commitment WGI’s Environmental Services team brings to its partnership with FDOT.

Congratulations to everyone who has supported the District 6 Districtwide Permits contract. Their work continues to strengthen WGI’s relationship with FDOT while supporting some of South Florida’s most complex transportation projects.
