WGI is thrilled to announce the opening of our new office in the heart of downtown Denver – This exciting expansion marks a significant milestone for our company as we join one of the most dynamic and rapidly evolving urban landscapes in the country!
Our new office not only underscores our commitment to fostering innovative solutions in urban design and infrastructure but also places us at the forefront of contributing to the vibrant revitalization efforts that are reshaping the city’s core. We are eager to collaborate with local stakeholders, embrace the unique spirit of Denver, and bring our expertise to projects that will enhance the community and drive sustainable growth.
Our arrival in Denver comes at a pivotal moment as the city embarks on a transformative journey to rejuvenate its downtown area. This revitalization effort is a critical initiative aimed at addressing the challenges posed by the pandemic and creating an inclusive and transformative urban core.
Now, let’s delve into the details of this ambitious project and explore how WGI plans to contribute to Denver’s bright future!
As many cities across the United States continue to grapple with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, Denver is embarking on a transformative journey to breathe new life into its downtown area.
The pandemic-induced shift to hybrid work significantly reduced foot traffic in Denver’s Central Downtown District, affecting residents, retail, small businesses, public spaces, transportation, and public safety. With that being said, the decline in demand for office space has created quite a disruption to the city’s economy.
Denver’s Mayor, Mike Johnston, has recently unveiled a comprehensive plan and strategy to invest $500 million in downtown Denver.
Central to this plan is the expansion of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) beyond Union Station, with the DDA having already generated $400 million for the historic preservation of Union Station and surrounding infrastructure improvements. This initiative is designed to transform downtown from a purely commercial district into a vibrant neighborhood where people of all ages and incomes can live, work, and play.
Key components of the Downtown revitalization plan include investing in childcare facilities, creating more affordable housing, and converting underutilized commercial spaces into residential opportunities. The plan also emphasizes creating dynamic public spaces and engaging the community through a city-wide survey to gather feedback and ideas.
To further address these challenges, ULI Colorado has hosted a series of programs aimed at sparking downtown revitalization:
In the midst of this truly exciting revitalization endeavor, WGI is thrilled to embrace the opportunity to contribute to Denver’s growth and development. Our presence in downtown Denver allows us to actively support and participate in the city’s vision of creating a diversified and vibrant downtown district.
Denver’s downtown revitalization is more than just an economic imperative; it’s a vision for a community-centric future. Mayor Johnston’s Denver plan and the collaborative efforts of organizations such as ULI Colorado and the Downtown Denver Partnership signal a bright future for this dynamic city.
Our new office in Denver will serve as a hub for innovation and collaboration, contributing to a downtown area that is not only a commercial center but a thriving neighborhood for all. We are excited to help shape the future of Denver and to create a more sustainable living area for generations to come.
