WGI was contracted by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Division of Recreation and Parks, Bureau of Design and Construction, on this 5-year Continuing Services contract in 2016, with renewal in 2021 for an additional five years. WGI provided environmental services, including tidal wetland and surface water delineations, functional assessments, protected species and habitat assessments, marine benthic resource, and submerged aquatic vegetation surveys, and environmental permitting and compensatory mitigation for six projects located throughout the Florida Keys in Monroe County. Environmental services have been provided to date for three Long Key State Park projects: (1) culverted entrance road repairs, (2) mangrove boardwalk replacement, (3) a beach access parking area; Curry Hammock State Park floating dock replacement project; Indian Key Historic State Park street repairs project; and three Florida Keys Overseas Heritage Trail (FKOHT) Trail Connections projects: 1) Toms Harbor Channel To Toms Harbor Cut, 2) Toms Harbor Cut to Long Key, 3) and Geiger Trail to Big Coppitt. The Division of Recreation and Parks contracted WGI to provide repairs within State Parks throughout the Florida Keys for storm-damaged features (roads, docks, boardwalks, parking areas) and gap trail connections for the FKOHT within the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Overseas Highway right-of-way. Under this contract, WGI provided Civil, Structural, Environmental, GIS, Survey, Utilities, Planning, and Landscape Architecture services.
