Since 2001, WGI has provided ongoing parking consulting and engineering services at Gerald R. Ford International Airport. Our work at the airport includes:
- Parking Studies and Consulting – operations, revenue control, site feasibility, and developing multiple parking-structure concepts.
- Terminal Parking Structure – parking consulting, revenue-control design, structural engineering, and resident construction engineering for a cast-in-place, post-tensioned parking structure (4,800 spaces) to provide long-term, short-term, valet, and rental car parking.
- Terminal Parking Structure Roof – structural engineering to construct a galvanized steel-framed roof over the parking structure that increases covered and winter parking capacity.
- Terminal Parking Structure Improvements – parking-structure signage, wayfinding and striping improvements in conjunction with maintenance, roof construction, and parking-product changes.
- Parking Structure Maintenance – annual parking structure condition review and maintenance projects.
- East Parking Lot – parking, revenue control, and roadway signage design for a surface parking lot (710 spaces).
- Consolidated Rent-A-Car Facility (ConRAC) – parking consulting and structural engineering for a ConRAC facility (1,400 spaces) that includes ready return parking, rental storage, customer service building, and quick-turnaround building to fuel and wash vehicles.
- Premium Long-Term and Valet Parking – parking consulting and design to convert the at-grade rental car area in the Terminal Parking Structure into 1,000 premium long-term and valet parking spaces.
- North Parking Structure – parking and structural schematic design for a long-term parking structure adjacent to the Terminal Parking Structure. The design includes the first phase of the parking structure (1,440 spaces), with adjacent temporary surface lots (560 spaces), and plans for multiple phases of horizontal- and vertical-parking structure expansion for a total of 5,700 spaces.
