WGI PROJECT
City of Delray Beach Parking and Curbside Management Study
Project Description
The City of Delray Beach, Florida needed to update its 2010 Parking Plan to include growth in ridehail services, meal delivery services, and curbside management in their bustling restaurant and entertainment district. WGI developed a GIS parking survey tool to inventory parking supply and city-wide curb use such as valet, bike storage, and shuttles. With attention to robust stakeholder engagement, WGI facilitated multiple stakeholder meetings with neighbors and the business community to gather data on private parking demand and supply, special events, downtown employee needs, and future development projects.
In March 2020, the team changed course due to COVID-19, refocusing on outdoor dining and servicing demand for deliveries and takeout orders. WGI fine-tuned the online survey for input on near and long-term strategies, garnering 600+ responses on parking and curb management through COVID recovery and beyond.
Moving forward, the project will include an operations assessment to include technology and valet parking. WGI is designing outdoor engagement pop-ups for high and low-impact engagement. Final deliverables include a strategic plan to better position the city and accommodate current and future parking needs of curb management.
