South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) selected WGI to perform a 3D Laser Scan Survey and Structural Assessment of Pump Stations S-7 and S-8 to support the pump station refurbishment design.
The S-8 Pump Station is located about 30 miles southwest of Belle Glade and 15 miles west of U.S. Highway 27 at the Palm Beach and Broward County line.
The S-7 Pump Station is located about 26 miles south of Belle Glade and east of U.S. Highway 27 at the Palm Beach and Broward County line.
WGI reviewed the original structural drawings of the pump stations and previous Structural Inspection Program reports to obtain background and history for each pump station.
After reviewing the history, WGI provided a High Definition 3D (x,y,z) Laser Scan of each of the project’s water control structures and a multi-beam hydrographic survey of the submerged areas adjacent to structures S-7 and S-8.
WGI also provided engineering services and a field condition assessment to the SFWMD Pump Stations S-7 and S-8 and presented findings and recommendations for repairs, upgrades, or replacements.
The building’s assessment was based on the current 2017 Florida Building Code design standards for a Risk Category IV facility.
