Prior to the completion of the International Terminal, San Francisco International Airport (SFO) operated approximately 11,250 public parking spaces in its Central Garage and long-term Lot D. With the opening of the International Terminal and associated parking garages, 3,100 additional spaces were added to the public-parking inventory. 

This resulted in erratic traffic patterns based on the international flight schedules, and migration of parking demand from the Central Garage to the international garages. Other changes in operations created the need to evaluate cashier-staffing strategies to improve overall operational flexibility and efficiency. 

Project Highlights: 

• Review current staffing strategies
• Evaluate scheduling limitations imposed by the current cashier collective-bargaining agreement 
• Observe existing conditions and activity levels at peak and non-peak times
