WGI PROJECT

Seaquay Pier

Client:
Seaquay Homeowners Association
Location:
Vero Beach, FL

Project Description

WGI provided structural engineering services for this Design-Build project including construction of a 16-foot wide by 300-foot long ocean pier with turtle safe low wattage lights on every bollard. The pier featured concrete substructure with wooden deck and railing.

The decking is designed to be sacrificial (break away) during large storm events. The pier was designed with precast concrete beams, pile caps, and bollards, and constructed from a crane on a temporary trestle in order to minimize the construction schedule and keep construction traffic off of the beach.
