SR 60 Median Modifications

WGI was the consultant engineering firm on this Design-Build venture. For this task work order, WGI performed all roadway, drainage, and signing and pavement marking design. Within the project limits, SR 60 is a four-lane divided highway with a raised median. The scope of services included the following:

• Left-turn lane length modifications at westbound 11th Street, eastbound 12th Street, westbound 14th Street, and eastbound/westbound at Hunt Brothers Road/Buck Moore Road
• Provide eastbound/westbound left-turn lanes at Highlands Drive and install median traffic separators
• Create bulb-outs on the north and south sides of SR 60 at Highlands Drive, and on the north side of SR 60 at Century Storage, to facilitate U-turns
• Modify median nose to accommodate exiting eastbound left turns from Century Storage facility
• Modify existing ERP No. 40-2156.000/001
• Update pedestrian facilities including sidewalk and curb ramps at Highlands Drive and Century Storage, adjacent to the proposed bulb-outs

Change Orders:

• RFI #1: Modified Existing Inlet Tops – This RFI was issued to modify two existing inlet tops within the limits of the proposed bulb-outs.
• RFI #2: Adding Gravity Wall – This RFI added gravity wall and handrail to the project where an unexpected drop-off was found in the field due to a covered drainage grate inlet.
