The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC)’s Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) recognize engineering firms across the nation for outstanding contributions to the AEC profession. This year, 195 projects will be honored at the 2022 ACEC Engineering Excellence Awards Gala, also known as the “Academy Awards of the engineering industry”, which is being held on May 24, 2022, at the Grand Hyatt Washington in Washington, D.C.
Of the 195 eligible projects, only one will be crowned the winner of the 2022 Grand Conceptor Award which signifies 2022’s top engineering achievement according to a renowned panel of nearly 30 judges representing a variety of built environment professions.
Earlier this year, as a prerequisite to the national ACEC EEA Gala, ACEC-FL handed out awards to distinguished projects in the state of Florida, and WGI was honored to receive the EEA Grand Award as well as the Award of Honor.
These merits catapulted WGI to the national stage where we were chosen by ACEC to receive EEA National Recognition Awards for two unique projects: Turnpike Widening from Osceola Parkway to Beachline Expressway in the Transportation category & Ike Smart City Project in the Building/Technology Systems – Computer Technology category.
The EEA National Recognition Award is a prestigious distinction that highlights previously-awarded projects that have achieved excellence at the state level.
Both the Ike Smart City and Turnpike Widening projects reflect WGI’s commitment to innovation and leveraging of our expertise to disrupt the industry with our investments in tomorrow’s technology.
