The Binghamton Governmental Parking Garage is a two-level underground structure serving the three government buildings above. The 650-vehicle garage was built in the early 1970s. Multiple structural systems, including cast-in-place concrete waffle slabs and encapsulated steel framing, were used. Little maintenance was done over the years, resulting in significant distress to the garage.
WGI was retained as the prime consultant to perform a comprehensive condition appraisal and repair options analysis of all functional, architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems serving the garage. Extensive testing was performed on all relevant systems to assess current performance levels.
