WGI PROJECT

Florida’s Turnpike Mainline / PGA Boulevard Interchange Improvements

Client:
Florida's Turnpike Enterprise
Location:
Palm Beach County, FL

Project Description

WGI completed final design plans for the replacement of the trumpet interchange ramp bridge at Florida’s Turnpike and PGA Boulevard. The new bridge was designed to span both the future eight-lane section of Florida’s Turnpike and the existing Florida Gas Transmission (FGT) lines located east of the northbound lanes.

In addition to the bridge construction, extensive coordination occurred with FGT to clear impacts of all project improvements. Additional improvements included increasing the northbound exit ramp capacity from a single lane to two lanes beyond the ramp terminal.

The scope of the project’s design phase incorporated interchange drainage, signing and pavement marking, ITS, and lighting improvements. WGI developed temporary traffic control plans to maintain all interchange traffic during every phase of construction and to avoid disruption of toll collection operations at the interchange’s toll plaza.
