The scope of this project included mechanical and electrical engineering design and construction administration for major improvements to the campus HVAC systems. The project included an added phase for the replacement of five central station air handlers with displacement ventilation and air purification devices and associated controls and the replacement of two 160-ton water-cooled chillers with the associated cooling towers, pumps, and controls.
Electrical circuits were replaced and upgraded as needed, and new duct-mounted smoke detectors were specified for the fire alarm.
The project was initiated via an evaluation and study phase where the engineering team evaluated the conditions of the existing HVAC systems and proposed alternatives for replacement, including cost estimates.
Construction was implemented on the occupied campus in phases to allow the campus to remain operational throughout the construction period.
