WGI PROJECT

I-10 Widening from Escambia Bay Bridge to SR 281 (Avalon Boulevard)

Client:
FDOT - District 3
Location:
Santa Rosa County, FL

Project Description

The design and construction of the multi-laning of I-10 (SR8) includes the widening of the highway from four to six lanes; reconstruction of the SR 281 interchange, including ramp reconstruction, milling, and resurfacing; as well as resurfacing of SR 281.

Existing stormwater facilities and conveyance systems were upgraded. In addition to signalization and under-bridge lighting, the new double-span bridge is supported by Florida I-beams with precast pre-stressed concrete beams. This allows I-10 traffic to speed over SR 281 as required for the future six-lane typical section, while also lowering the profile from the concept plan.
