WGI was hired as parking consultant and structural engineer for the 2,300-space underground parking structure that supports a $90 million, seven-story, 180,000-square-foot building that is home of Michigan State University’s College of Human Medicine and includes research and teaching laboratories, classrooms, offices and student areas.

Located across from the Van Andel Institute and Spectrum Health, the design features state-of-the-art instructional technologies and a community, health and education partnership unique to medical education.

Landscape features trees and planters on the exterior plaza level, which is at Level 5 of the parking structure. The design included special considerations for ADA accessibility, a snowmelt system, and loading dock. Sustainable design features supported the goals of the multiple owner entities.
