Palm Beach County wanted to replace the existing fixed wooden docks for the ski slalom course at Okeeheelee Park with a new floating dock system anchored with new concrete piles. WGI designed the floating dock system to be constructed from aluminum frames and polyethylene floats covered with a timber deck. The dock configuration matches the existing with 11 finger piers and two ramps connecting the docks to the lakeshore.
WGI provided design criteria and specifications for the new aluminum gangways and floating dock system, details for concrete ramp transitions to the floating dock gangways, and provided details for floating dock interfaces with existing structures that remained. During construction, WGI attended a pre-bid meeting, responded to contractor’s requests for information (RFI’s), reviewed shop drawings, conducted field observations, and attended construction meetings.
