The City of Boca Raton owns and maintains three beach access tunnels beneath A1A connecting Spanish River Park to the beach. The existing tunnels had varying degrees of loose and spalling concrete with exposed rebar. The City engaged WGI
to assess the extent of the damage and have plans and specifications prepared for the required remedial repairs.
The condition assessment outlined concrete delamination issues observed and the estimated extent and limits of any areas deemed in need of remedial repairs. The soundness of the walls was determined by non-destructive vibration sounding and isolated destructive testing, such as removing spalling areas or coring or drilling small diameter holes to determine the depth of the damage.
Following the condition assessment, construction documents were produced to itemize the repair type, repair methodology, and estimated quantities. WGI provided construction administration, inspected the repairs, and reconciled the final quantities on behalf of the City
