WGI, along with Fehr-Peer, was retained by the University of Washington-Tacoma (UWT) to conduct a transportation and parking master plan. The goal was to study existing parking and transportation conditions on campus and make recommendations for future parking and transportation strategies, including a 10-year projection of parking system revenues and expenses.
The study results showed that anticipated levels of future campus population growth could create significant parking issues since current UWT parking supplies are already near full utilization. Several strategies were recommended to meet future parking and transportation needs of the UWT community, improve the utilization of existing parking supplies, increase the use of alternative forms of transportation, improve parking system management and financial performance, and develop new parking facilities.
• Study current conditions, including community feedback and results of a parking count of on and off-street facilities
• Analyze current and future parking demand and how it relates to current capacity
• Create a list of alternatives to deal with the expected increase in parking demand
• Provide guidelines and recommendations for a campus parking management and operations plan and conclude with a 10-year financial pro forma
