This survey project helped to fulfill the operational and flood control objectives within the upper Kissimmee basin. The survey provided the data necessary to appropriately evaluate the current canal capacity, determine any loss of design capacity, and determine the structural and operational improvements, if any, that were needed to bring the canal into compliance with its original and updated design requirements.
The objective of this survey (PHASE 1) was to take three profile lines and cross-sections at 500± foot intervals along Zipprer Canal, from Lake Rosalie easterly to Lake Kissimmee (3.0± miles); (PHASE 2) determine the 52.8, 53.8, and 54.8-foot contour lines and complete a topographic survey in the designated area around the Lake Kissimmee State Park Marina; and (PHASE 3) establish control around Lake Rosalie.
WGI performed hydrographic and control survey, including cross-sections and profiles along the Zipprer Canal, from Lake Rosalie to Lake Kissimmee, determined specific contour lines within the Lake Kissimmee State Park marina and established horizontal and vertical control around Lake Rosalie. Deliverables included hydrographic, topographic, and control surveys, including centerline and canal bottom profiles, cross-sections, location of improvements, contour lines, and District benchmark sheets.
