WGI performed construction administration related to the improvements of the City of Delray Beach Marina. The improvements included raising and repairing structural damage to the existing seawall, the installation of new floating docks, enhancements of the surrounding walkways and sidewalks to accommodate for Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, and provide improvements to the electrical, water/ sewer, lighting, landscaping and irrigation, security, and stormwater components.
Services performed included general administration of the construction contract, fulltime inspection, conducting meetings, review of contractor submittals, pay applications, and change orders. WGI also reviewed the construction for substantial completion and final acceptance, reviewed the contractor-submitted record drawings, and assisted the City with the close-out procedures for construction and regulatory permits.
WGI was also tasked with developing a methodology to allow existing utilities to remain in place during the construction period by utilizing jet grouting technology (soil enhancement) upland, then a concrete facing for longevity steel sheet pile placed upland faced with concrete for uniformity and additional protection. Steady sea level rise has historically inundated the streets and threatened existing residents. Due to the raised seawall height, WGI sited and designed a below-grade pump station structure and replumbed the existing drainage system to accommodate drainage during construction and in its finished state.
WGI included an initial structural and geotechnical assessment report. Disciplines involved included civil, mechanical, structural, landscape, and public outreach. Construction documents were submitted to the City at 30%, 60%, 90%, and 100% permitting bidding and construction administration, and project close-out.
