WGI designed a 50-foot wide by 270-foot long multi-span bridge at the Loxahatchee River Road crossing over the C-18 Canal and the southwest fork of the Loxahatchee River. The multi-span bridge was constructed with prestressed concrete piles, concrete pile caps, and prestressed concrete deck units with transverse post-tensioning. The bridge includes concrete barrier walls and bullet railing between the bridge traffic and pedestrian walkways. The pedestrian walkways have parapet walls with decorative concrete pedestals and parabolic-shaped decorative aluminum railing. The bridge includes two traffic lanes with a sidewalk on each side.
WGI staff provided structural design services and construction administration services. Design services included preparation of construction design plans, signed and sealed design calculations, preparation of an engineer’s cost estimate, and oversight of the permit application process. Construction services included observation of the concrete restressing, reinforcement, and concrete placement. Field and prestressed yard observations were completed throughout construction so that final certification could be provided.
