WGI has been working with the City of Ann Arbor since the mid-90s on all aspects of its parking system. In 1994, WGI completed a comprehensive study of the entire six-parking structure system and developed a multi-year, multiple phases, and $30 million repairs and parking structure replacement program. The program included the restoration of five of the structures and the demolition/ rebuilding of the remaining two structures. The Maynard Street Parking Structure was built in 1954 and expanded in 1956 and 1967. Due to the harsh Michigan environment, significant deterioration required major concrete repairs (full slab replacement) to restore the structure’s integrity. To enhance user comfort and security and improve the structure’s appearance, renovations included: a new stair/elevator tower, new brick façade, pedestrian walkways, bicycle parking areas, accented painting, new lighting, new parking office & police substation, new restrooms, and new signage. Functional improvements included a new speed ramp to eliminate traffic congestion at the Maynard Street entrance/exit.Â
We are currently providing an updated evaluation of all garages and providing design and construction administration services for recommended repairs.Â
