The Reserve at Coral Springs, located within the northeast quadrant of the intersection of Sample Road and University Drive, was formerly part of the Broken Woods golf course. To accomplish the golf course conversion, WGI provided planning, environmental, and landscape architecture services for this 248-unit rental community comprised of a mix of 80 townhomes and 168 multifamily units. Improvements include a resort-style clubhouse, pool, tennis court, and tot lot. A series of pathways connect residential units and roadways to recreational amenities and promotes walkability throughout the community. A 4.67-acre park directly east of the development was dedicated to the City of Coral Springs and features tennis courts, restrooms, a pavilion, playground, and open space.
The Broken Woods golf course was originally constructed in the 1960’s and served the community for many years, ultimately closing in 2003. The development team processed a Future Land Use Amendment and Rezoning approval through the City of Coral Springs to convert the existing golf course into a residential development. WGI’s vision for this project included a meaningful and realistic redevelopment plan for the community that took into account requests from the City of Coral Springs to provide a public purpose, while respecting the neighboring communities and their current quality of life.
