WGI PROJECT
Chicago O’Hare Airport Terminals 1,2,3 SUE Services
Project Description
WGI was brought in to provide Subsurface Utility engineering (SUE) Quality Level A and B services for the design of the O’Hare Lower Level Utility and Pavement Reconstruction (LLUPR) project supporting AECOM’s design team. This project will relocate and reconstruct the domestic water main, ComEd duct bank and reconstruct the pavements at the arrivals area within Terminals 1, 2 and 3.
This project had an accelerated schedule, and in order to meet the client’s compressed schedule, we mobilized additional resources from our Florida SUE operations to assist. WGI had 2 designating crews providing the utility designation and another 2 Vacuum Excavation crews working on the predetermined test hole locations. This work was completed while the terminals were active, which was challenging, especially for the vacuum excavation activities. We had to consider the safety of our crews and the public as there was a constant flow of foot traffic throughout the operations. Our crews did a great job of creating a work zone that kept everyone safe and without incident!
WGI has completed over 80,000 linear-foot of utility designation and 64 test holes to date within the schedule.
